With a pass percentage of 96.13 in the Class 12 State Board examination results released on Friday, Madurai district secured the 16th position in the State.

A total of 33,966 candidates — 16,226 boys and 17,740 girls from 322 government, government-aided, and private matriculation schools — applied for the Class 12 board examination in Madurai and Melur educational districts in Madurai district.

Of them, 32,651 students — 15,246 boys and 17,405 girls — have cleared the examination.

Overall, with a pass rate of 96.13%, the district had secured the 16th place at the State level. In this, 19 out of the 111 government higher secondary schools had achieved cent per cent pass rate, said District Chief Educational Officer S. Dayalan.

A total of 121 schools, including 15 government-aided schools, and 87 private matriculation schools, have achieved cent per cent pass rate.

The district, with a pass rate of 95.74%, had secured the 14th place at the State level last academic year.
