Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan on Tuesday directed officials concerned to take more steps to provide treatment and create awareness among children about the dangers of drug abuse as the young generation is more likely to fall victims to drugs.
Chairing the district-level Narco Coordination Centre Committee meeting here, Mr. Darshan said children should be made aware of the dangers as there is a high possibility of them being attracted to drugs in schools and colleges. He said that drug addiction can be prevented through education, awareness among children, a loving family environment, strict laws, and promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
Mr. Darshan said parents and teachers should monitor the movement of children. Otherwise, the health of the family will start deteriorating. Children will not be able to progress socially and academically. In this regard, parents, schools, colleges, and hostels should closely monitor children.
Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said drug addiction is a scourge that destroys a person’s physical, mental and social life. Children should be made aware that drug addiction has a long-term negative effect on the brain. Awareness should be created among children by conducting monthly check-ups and counselling in all colleges.
Superintendent of Police K. Arun, Deputy Commissioner of Police H.N. Mithun, Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Bhoomareddy, and officers were preent.
