Six persons, including two students, were apprehended by the Commissioner’s Task Force and Attapur police for allegedly performing dangerous stunts on bikes and driving recklessly on public roads, endangering the lives of commuters and pedestrians.
The accused have been identified as Syed Shahed, 19, Shaik Naseer Hussain alias Sk Naseer, 19, Shaik Junaid, 18, Abdul Samad, 20, and Mohammed Arbaz Hussain Khan, 22 and a minor.
Police said the accused were caught within the limits of Attapur police station following inputs about increasing incidents of dangerous riding, over speeding and public nuisance in the area.
According to investigators, the group was performing stunts such as triple riding, zig-zag movement, over speeding and rash driving while travelling from Attapur to Aramghar on two two-wheelers. Police said the riders allegedly dragged the vehicles in a manner that caused sparks to fly from the road surface, creating panic among other commuters.
During the operation, police seized a Maestro Deluxe bearing registration number TS 12 EC 0002 and a Dio bearing registration number TS 12 EL 0755, along with six mobile phones. The seized property is valued at ₹1.5 lakh.
Police said four of the accused had earlier been involved in a petty case relating to bike stunts registered at Bahadurpura police station. One of the accused, Mohammed Arbaz Hussain Khan, was previously booked in a POCSO case registered at Attapur police station.
The accused were apprehended by the Rajendranagar Zone Task Force in coordination with Attapur police, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Vaibhav Gaikwad.
