The Sri Narayana Guru Vichara Vedike has demanded the post of Deputy Chief Minister for Madhu Bangarappa, ministerial berths for Belure Gopal Krishna and H. Gaviyappa, MLAs, and the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee presidency for senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad.

Speaking to presspersons in Shivamogga on Monday, forum president Praveen Hiregowdar said the Ediga community ranked fourth in terms of population in the State and deserved representation in the government commensurate with its numbers.

Mr. Hiregowdar said Madhu Bangarappa, who had implemented several welfare schemes as Minister for School Education, should be appointed Deputy Chief Minister. He also demanded that Belur Gopal Krishna, MLA, and H.R. Gaviyappa, MLA, be inducted into the Cabinet.

On the KPCC presidency, Mr. Hiregowdar said senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad, who had rendered yeoman service to the party at the national level, deserved to be appointed president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
