MLC for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Local Authorities constituency Kishor Kumar Puttur inaugurated a cold storage facility developed by Gramjanya Farmers Producer Company Limited at its premises in Hindaru, Puttur, on Thursday.

The first users of the cold storage facility, Radhakrishna of Abhigyan Foods and Ramkishore Manchi of Pingara Raitha Producer Company, were felicitated at the programme. On the occasion, Keshav Prasad Muliya, head of the Muliya Group of Companies, who had proposed the need for a cold storage facility for Puttur at a jackfruit mela and inspired the project, was also felicitated.

In his introductory address, Gramjanya CEO Ramapratik Karyal gave detailed information on the journey of the company, the various projects undertaken for farmers’ welfare, the need for a modern cold storage and the benefits it offers to farmers, food-processing units, traders, juice centres, bakeries, hotels and the public.

Speaking after inaugurating the facility, the MLC commended Gramjanya for its initiative to develop a cold storage facility. He hoped that farmers, food-processing units, traders, and the public would make maximum use of the facility to maintain the quality of agricultural produce and secure better market prices.

Gramjanya president K. Moolachandra, directors Yashaswini, Niranjan Polya, Shankaranarayana Bhat Khandige, M.S. Harshakumar, K. Balarama and B.S. Subraya were present.
