In a joint effort, the Usilampatti Government Hospital has received four state-of-the-art dialysis equipment, which would help hundreds of needy patients to avoid travelling to far away places and thus get treated locally on free of cost or at a subsidized cost.
The Rotary Clubs, including members from Usilampatti, Madurai and Chennai, took the initiative and with the financial support from the SBI Mutual Fund, the project was implemented successfully at a function held on Thursday.
According to a press release, the Rotary Club of Madras, the first Rotary club in South India, has been continuously carrying out several significant social service initiatives.
As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts, the club has donated four modern dialysis machines to the Usilampatti GH.
The SBI Mutual Fund had extended financial assistance for this project through its CSR fund, with the Rotary Club of Madras playing a key role in facilitating the support.
SBI Mutual Fund Cluster Head Saravanan was the chief guest. Rotary District Governor J. Karthik, past District Governor Y.Kumanan, former Rotary Governors Sridhar and Raja Govindasamy, along with DGND of Chennai region Ravi, and several others participated.
The initiative had additionally been supported by Rotary Club of Usilampatti, Rotary Club of Madurai, Rotary Club of Madurai West and Rotary Club of Madurai Meenakshi, which have jointly contributed accessories to the medical equipment required for the dialysis unit.
The Rotary has been actively establishing dialysis centers in government hospitals across various parts of Tamil Nadu. Some of these projects are also being implemented with the support of Tanker Foundation. Operated under the direct supervision of government hospitals, these services have become a major support system for economically weaker patients suffering from kidney-related illnesses.
Rotary members expressed happiness that this initiative will greatly benefit the public by making quality dialysis treatment more accessible to people living in and around Usilampatti, the release said.
