Raichur Deputy Commissioner S. Poovitha advised the general public to protect themselves from the acute heatwave and rising temperature in the district by following the guidelines issued by the District Disaster Management Authority.
In a press release on Friday (May 15), Ms. Poovitha said that according to the forecast by the India Meteorological Department, the highest temperature will be recorded for the next couple of days.
Explaining the precautionary measures under the guidelines, the Deputy Commissioner said that people should drink water, lemon juice, and buttermilk to avoid possible dehydration.
People should wear lightweight (white) clothes, sun protection glasses, and hats while going outside only for emergency works. Otherwise, people should stay indoors between noon and 4 p.m.,” she added.
Pointing out that rains accompanying lightning and thunderstorms may lash the district in the coming days, the Deputy Commissioner advised the general public to install apps such as ‘Sidilu’, ‘Damini’, and ‘Sachet’ to know about the rain, lightning, and thunderstorms, and get protection in zones which are safer from lightning.
