Two persons drowned in the water accumulated in a quarry pit while bathing near Elayirampannai on Wednesday.
Police identified the deceased as S. Sanjay, 17, and C. Sivanraj, 21, of Alayoorani near Sivakasi. They had gone to their friend’s house in Vellaiyapuram to participate in a temple festival.
The friends had gone to the quarry pit near Keezha Chellaiahpuram to bath. Since both of them did not know swimming they drowned in the water in the afternoon.
Firemen were searching for their bodies. Elayirampannai police are investigating.
