The All-India Conference of the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) concluded in Mussoorie, with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) drawing national attention for its initiatives in spare parts management, electric bus operations, and the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme.
The conference was chaired by Managing Director of TGSRTC Nagi Reddy and was attended by senior RTC officials, chairpersons, and transport department representatives from across the country, to discuss the future of public transportation.
The conference discussed the sharp increase in spare parts prices caused by prevailing global war conditions. Addressing vendors and State RTC representatives, Mr. Nagireddy proposed measures to control escalating costs and announced the formation of a special committee to periodically review spare parts pricing and prevent additional financial burden on RTC organisations nationwide. He also highlighted Telangana’s leadership in eco-friendly public transport, stating that TGSRTC has become a national model in the operation and maintenance of electric buses.
The conference also noted the contribution of the Mahalakshmi scheme, and its recent achievement of record passenger trips worth ₹10,000 crore and described it a landmark public transport sector.
