Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, has alleged a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the police brutality during an eviction drive at Pariyathukavu in Vazhakkulam. He pointed out that while the police had approached the colony 14 times in the past to execute the Supreme Court’s eviction order, they had always maintained complete restraint. He added that it is highly suspicious and warrants a serious investigation as to why the police unleashed large-scale force just hours after the new government completed its portfolio allocation and the new Home Minister assumed charge.
Mr. Suresh noted that it is only natural for the police force to have the basic sense to understand the stance and approach of a newly elected government on such sensitive matters. He observed that if the police bypassed such considerations to execute such an aggressive crackdown, it can only be viewed as a calculated conspiracy hatched jointly by the CPI(M) and certain police officers who held key positions under the previous administration.
The MP further criticised CPI(M) for its double standards, stating that the party failed to initiate any out-of-court settlements or rehabilitation measures for the colony residents over the past ten years. He questioned the motive behind CPI(M) launching massive protests within just two days against the new government, which has already announced its commitment to taking concrete steps for the residents’ rehabilitation. Mr. Suresh also demanded a comprehensive and high-level investigation into the alleged conspiracy that led to the violence at the colony.
