The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday approved a slew of key decisions aimed at accelerating investments, generating employment, strengthening infrastructure and advancing the development of Amaravati as the State capital.

Disclosing the details, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said that more than 80 agenda items received approval, with major focus on attracting investments across industries, information technology, tourism, renewable energy, data centres and capital city development. The Cabinet gave its nod to investment proposals worth nearly ₹34,000 crore that had earlier been cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). The projects are expected to create around 35,000 employment opportunities across the State, he said.

Infra at Undavalli

In a significant boost to infrastructure development, the Cabinet approved works worth ₹426 crore for creating civic and public infrastructure in Undavalli. It also sanctioned the construction of the Andhra Pradesh Judicial Academy at an estimated cost of ₹139 crore. As part of efforts to promote Amaravati as a major business and convention destination, the Cabinet approved proposals to extend incentives for the establishment of five-star hotels and convention centres in the capital region. The government believes these projects will enhance hospitality infrastructure and support economic activity in the capital city, he said.

The Cabinet also cleared several tourism-related projects in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Kurnool and Annavaram to improve tourism infrastructure and attract greater visitor footfall to these destinations.

The Minister said that the government further approved proposals related to the renewable energy sector. Land allocation was cleared for solar and wind power projects in Anantapur and Kadapa districts. Measures were approved to encourage the establishment of biogas plants as part of the State’s clean energy and sustainability initiatives.

Port boundaries

Mr. Parthasarathy said that the Cabinet gave its green signal for the rationalisation of the operational limits of Machilipatnam and Ramayapatnam ports in accordance with the Indian Ports Act, 2025, and Indian Ports Rules, 2026. The jurisdiction of the Machilipatnam Port will be reduced from 64 km to 15 km, while the Ramayapatnam Port’s limits will be curtailed from 51 km to 15 km. The move aims to establish clear administrative and regulatory boundaries, improve planning and port management, and enhance ease of doing business. The Cabinet said the decision aligns with the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Policy, 2024, and will support efficient, investor-friendly maritime infrastructure development.

In another important decision linked to capital development, the Cabinet approved the creation of 95 temporary posts of Deputy Collectors and Tahsildars under the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to facilitate the implementation of the first and second phases of the Amaravati Land Pooling Scheme, he added.
