The Rajasthan Cabinet on Friday (May 22, 2026) approved a new industrial development policy with the focus on talent economy and the private sector’s participation to establish a world-class industrial infrastructure in the State. The Cabinet also took decisions on energy production, water conservation and pensioners’ welfare.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma presided over the Cabinet meeting. Industries and Commerce Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore told journalists after the meeting that the new policy would provide incentives to micro, small, and medium enterprises, one district one product, and the export sector.

“The State government will make special efforts to promote industries based on cutting-edge technologies, such as semiconductors, data centres, global capacity centres and defence manufacturing,” Col. Rathore said. The policy’s primary objective was to boost the State’s economy to $350 billion by 2028-29, he added.

Apart from encouraging sectors like gems and jewellery, textiles, tourism, handicrafts, agro-processing, dairy and logistics, the policy would focus on research and development and technology transfer to enhance investment and indigenous production, Col. Rathore said.

Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat and Minister of State for Energy Heera Lal Nagar gave details of the Cabinet’s decisions on the Vande Ganga water conservation campaign, land allotment for renewable energy projects and simplification of rules of pension for government employees.

Mr. Rawat said the Vande Ganga campaign would start with desilting of canals and water channels, while cleanliness drive and voluntary labour camps would be undertaken at water sources, rivers, ponds and water harvesting structures. The ‘Jal Gaurav Samman’ awards will be given on the campaign’s conclusion on June 5, marking the World Environment Day.

Mr. Nagar said the State government’s efficient power management had led to the supply of 16,580 MW electricity against the peak demand at 16,487 MW on a single day on May 20, indicating that the available electricity exceeded the demand. The supply of water and power during the severe heat of the summer months would be continuously monitored, he said.
