A delegation from the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) met Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay recently and emphasised the need for proactive initiatives and policy support for the textile industry in the State.
A press release from the Association said the delegates explained to the Chief Minister the current situation of the industry in the State and the impact of high power costs.
They sought withdrawal of the network charges for rooftop solar power generation (as per the High Court Order), keeping in abeyance the collection of arrears of deemed demand charges until issuance of final Order by the APTEL, and freezing the monthly demand charges at the existing rate of ₹608 per kVA for three years.
The delegation also appealed to the Chief Minister to allocate adequate fund and facilitate speedy implementation of PM Mitra Park Scheme (integrated textile park at Virudhunagar) and the Tamil Nadu Integrated textile policy.
