The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has responded positively to a demand for widening and reconstruction of a crucial stretch of National Highway 150A connecting parts of Kalyana Karnataka. It has included the Hattigudur-Tinthini Bridge-Lingsugur section in its annual plan for 2026-27, Raichur MP G. Kumar Naik has said.
In a statement, the MP said that he wrote to Union Road Transport and Highways Secretary V. Umashankar on April 15, 2026 urging the Ministry to immediately take up widening and reconstruction of the Shahapur-Hattigudur-Lingsugur stretch of NH 150A which falls within the Raichur Lok Sabha Constituency.
Mr. Naik pointed out that NH 150A is one of the key routes connecting Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Raichur districts with Bengaluru and is used daily by thousands of commercial and passenger vehicles.
“However, the Hattigudur-Lingsugur section has only a 5.5 m wide road causing severe inconvenience to commuters and motorists. The narrow road has also witnessed frequent serious accidents resulting in loss of lives,” he said in his representation to the Centre.
Following the MP’s request, the Ministry and the National Highways Authority have now included the widening and reconstruction of the Hattigudur-Tinthini Bridge-Lingsugur section in Yadgir district under the 2026-27 annual plan.
The authorities have informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared shortly and the work will be taken up thereafter.
Mr. Naik said that the proposed road development works will significantly boost the social and economic development of Yadgir and Raichur districts, which are among the backward and aspirational districts of Karnataka, besides fulfilling a long-pending demand of the public.
