Veteran politician and four-time MLA of Radhapuram Assembly constituency M. Appavu, who got elected to the Assembly from this segment to become the Speaker of Legislative Assembly, is now a victim of perennial intra-party rumblings.
The shocking defeat of Mr. Appavu, who had been elected to the Assembly from the same segment in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2021, has surprised the common voter as he has lost the electoral battle to a novice, K. Sathish Christopher of TVK. However, his defeat has not shocked the DMK men, who are very much aware of the intra-party squabbles among the district-level office-bearers.
