The 19-year-long wait of commuters in Visakhapatnam has ended, as the Ministry of Railways on Tuesday approved regular weekly train services between Visakhapatnam – SMVT Bengaluru – Visakhapatnam.
This long-standing demand of North Andhra residents, particularly IT professionals and students frequenting the Karnataka capital, has been met with the conversion of the current “Train-on-Demand” special into a permanent Weekly Express service. With effective from May 10, 2026, the existing special train (08581/08582) will operate under new regular numbers 18509 and 18510.
