The 10th Thailand-India Defence Dialogue was held in Bangkok on Tuesday (June 16, 2026), with both countries reviewing bilateral defence cooperation and exchanging views on regional and global security issues of mutual interest.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence, Admiral Nuttapol Diewvanich, and Joint Secretary in India’s Defence Ministry Satyajit Mohanty.

According to the Ministry, both sides discussed the evolving security environment in the Indo-Pacific region and shared their perspectives on key regional developments. They reaffirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation to promote peace, stability and prosperity across the region.

The delegations reviewed progress made in bilateral defence ties since the previous dialogue, covering military-to-military engagements, capacity-building initiatives, training exchanges, maritime cooperation and other areas of mutual interest, it added.

Defence industry cooperation featured prominently in the talks. India and Thailand explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development, with the aim of fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between their respective defence sectors.

The two sides further exchanged views on cooperation under regional and multilateral defence frameworks, including ASEAN-led mechanisms. They reiterated their commitment to enhancing practical cooperation and addressing shared security challenges through sustained dialogue and collaboration.

The meeting concluded with discussions on future engagements and the roadmap for strengthening bilateral defence cooperation. The dialogue comes after India and Thailand elevated their relationship to a formal Strategic Partnership in 2025, reflecting the growing depth and importance of ties between the two countries.
