R. Vishal, Secretary, Infrastructure Development, called upon those working in government and private firms to enrol in the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) in Udupi district.
Chairing a meeting at Rajatadri, the district office complex in Manipal-Udupi, on Monday, Mr. Vishal said by paying a small amount as premium every month for the schemes, the beneficiary will get security from unexpected health expenses . For accidental death, the family members will receive ₹40 lakh immediately.
Reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission works, Mr. Vishal asked district officials to ensure that rural parts of Udupi district do not face drinking water crisis. The remaining works of the Varahi Lift Irrigation project should be completed on priority.
Different health schemes should reach out to people. He called upon Accredited Social Health Activists and health workers to ensure that Koraga primitive tribes in Udupi make use of health schemes designed for the tribes.
Expressing the need for extension of the operation of Cochin Ship Yard, working in Udupi, Mr. Vishal said local youth should be trained in skills at the ITI, which will help locals get job in the yard.
Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa and zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prateek Bayal were among the officials who attended the meeting.
