The Hyderabad City Cyber Crime unit identified and facilitated the takedown of 184 social media profiles during April for allegedly promoting illegal online betting, gaming applications and fake investment schemes targeting users in India.
Officials said continuous digital monitoring and intelligence-based tracking led to the detection of the profiles across Facebook and Instagram, which were collectively running 801 paid advertisements.
