Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the State government would take up with the Centre the long-pending demand to include the Budaga Jangam community in the Scheduled Castes category.
Addressing the District Collectors on the second day of the 7th Collectors’ Conference at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said, “We will speak to the Centre regarding the inclusion of Budaga Jangams in the SC category. Until approvals are received, every benefit applicable to the Scheduled Castes, except jobs-related reservations, should be extended to them.”
The direction came during a review of the welfare initiatives, housing programmes and social justice measures. The Chief Minister also instructed the Collectors to ensure eligible beneficiaries received welfare support under existing government schemes.
