Various Dalit and tribal organisations and students will launch a protest demanding that a case be filed for murder against those responsible for the death of R.L. Nithin Raj, a student at Anjarakandy Dental College in Kannur, said Adi Shakti Summer School and Ambedkarite Democratic Front (ADF).
The ADF State committee has decided to take out a protest march to the college on April 18. Students of Adi Shakti Summer School will also participate in the march. Although some teachers who have been deemed guilty have been suspended, no charges have been filed against them for murder or ragging, the organisations said in a communication.

“Along with filing a case of murder against the accused, the protest will also demand cancellation of the recognition of the institution that led to honour killing and ragging, and seek the implementation of the Rohit Act to prevent atrocities against Dalit and Adivasi students,” the organisation said.
Despite his academic record, Nithin Raj faced discrimination from teachers and the institution ever since they came to know that he was a Dalit. Although there is a fee concession for SC/ST students, the institution was pressuring them to pay all types of fees in advance, the organisations alleged.
