InnoVent-27

Tata Technologies, in collaboration with Emerson’s Test and Measurement Business and Amazon Web Services, has launched the fourth edition of InnoVent-27, its engineering innovation hackathon. The theme this year is AI at the Edge: AI solutions for Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery industries

Space for Good India Challenge

Students at Canadian International School Bengaluru raised over ₹27 lakhs through crowdfunding campaigns with the Greensole Foundation to provide essential school kits to underprivileged children in rural Karnataka.

SP Jain School of Global Management’s Master of Applied Finance and Wealth Management (MFWM) programme recently received affiliation to the CFA Institute University.

The Department of Quantitative Economics and Data Science at BIT Mesra launched a Faculty Development Programme on AI for Hyperspectral Data Analytics 2026, in collaboration with the E&ICT Academy, NIT Patna. The institute also unveiled HimClimX, a climate intelligence and visualisation platform developed under its Himalayan Climate Research Initiative.

Rohit Raghunath Ghadge, Mahesh Vasantrao Kulkarni, faculty members from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Yash Utsahi Chavande, Ph.D. scholar in Mechanical Engineering at at MIT-WPU have developed a retrofit technology that can reduce industrial noise by up to 20 dB(A), contain sparks and debris, and enhance workplace safety.

A team of astronomers led by University of Warwick, the U.K. in collaboration with researchers at MIT, the U.S., and McMaster University, Canada, have developed a new method using dust rings around stars to estimate the masses of newborn, otherwise hidden planets. The study was published in The Astrophysical Journal.

The UGC has granted a Letter of Approval to UNSW Sydney, Australia, and the University of Bristol, the U.K., to establish and operate campuses in India. While UNSW Sydney will be based in Bengaluru, the University of Bristol will be in Mumbai.

ITM Institute of Design and Media concluded NeoSpark’26, its showcase of the work of graduating across digital media, film, VFX, product design, interactive installations, and creative campaigns.

Kraftshala School of Business has launched its first offline campus in Gurugram’s DLF World Tech Park. The institute will offer two full-time, nine-month PG programmes in AI-led marketing and AI-led Sales, Marketing, and Business.

Cadence and IIT Delhi have launched the IIT Delhi–Cadence Innovation Lab to offer students AI-enabled EDA tools and industry workflows along with an Early Master’s Research pathway for select fourth-year IIT and NIT undergraduates.

Samsung India has recognised 30 top performers from its Innovation Campus programme and awarded them ₹1,00,000 each for their performance across AI, coding, IoT, and big data courses. 

Chitkara University has launched an Apple-focused campus experience centre along with Radius Systems and integrated tools and curricula to enhance learning in technology, design, coding, research, and entrepreneurship.

Seth M.R. Jaipuria Schools concluded the 2026 Annual Principals’ Meet under the Jaipuria Leadership Programme. Over 60 leaders from more than 50 cities discussed leadership and academic planning. Jagriti, a student leadership programme to nurture young leaders, was also launched during the event.

Galgotias University and the School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University, Australia, hosted an International Conference on Comparative Law, bringing together legal experts from India and abroad to discuss comparative legal scholarship and emerging global legal and regulatory challenges. 

JS Institute of Design (JSID), in academic collaboration with École Intuit Lab, hosted its Summer Internship 2026 in Digital Design. This immersive learning initiative designed for students from Classes 8 to 12 offered participants a hands-on introduction to design thinking, visual storytelling, digital tools, and problem-solving through studio-based projects, workshops, and guided learning experiences.

Noida International University organised an Educators’ Meet 2026. Participants discussed higher education’s evolving landscape and opportunities for academic collaboration. The institute also hosted an education networking event for over 100 teachers, education professionals, and consultants.

Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Architecture organised the Ecological Urbanism Conclave 2026 on the theme Building Resilience into the City, in association with Indian Green Building Council; Institute of Urban Designers India; Indian Society of Landscape Architects; Indian Institute of Architects, and Maharashtra Association of Schools of Architecture. Speakers included Jitesh Brahkshatriya, AVP and Head of Planning, Adani Group; Sandeep Menon, MLA Program Co-Lead, Manchester School of Architecture, the U.K.; Mayura Patil, Senior Landscape Architect from Singapore; and Parveen Shaik from Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Mumbai. Over 500 students, faculty, and staff from the institute visited the ecological site across Mumbai, including the Godrej Mangrove Park and Maharashtra Nature Park.

IIT Kanpur has received a grant of $1.15 million from its alumnus Jagjeet Singh Bindra to establish a new Chemical Engineering Annex. The facility will be named the Janice and Jagjeet Bindra Chemical Engineering Annex and will serve as a modern hub for teaching, research, and innovation within the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies, Chennai, completed placements for 2025–26. Recruiters included Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Hexaware Technologies, Ashok Leyland, Tata Electronics, Equitas Bank, among others.

The Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Roorkee completed placement of its first BTech batch. Recruiters included Amazon, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Databricks, Barclays, Visa, and Warner Bros. Discovery, among others.

Goa Institute of Management concluded placements for its PGDM students of Healthcare Management; Banking, Insurance and Financial Services, and Big Data Analytics. Recruiters included DTDC, Birla Opus, IDBI Bank, Lenskart, Wells Fargo, Aditya Birla Capital, AB InBev, Accenture, and Deloitte.

Convocations

IMI Delhi hosted its 42nd convocation. Over 430 students received their degrees. Siddharth Jain, Managing Partner and Country Head, Kearney India, was the chief guest.

Chandigarh University held the eighth convocation of CU Online and the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) where 363 students received their degrees.

Biocon Academy, Bengaluru, celebrated its 10th convocation with 156 students receiving their degrees. E.V. Ramana Reddy, Chairman, Karnataka Skill Development Authority; and Prasanth Nair, Astronaut, ISRO, participated. 

Awards

Team BlisCare from Hyderabad won the AMD Slingshot 2026, a national AI  innovation and venture-building initiative from AMD India. Team AISD from Bengaluru, and Shashvat Singh from Jaipur were the first and second runners-up respectively.

The Wellbeing Standard, an initiative organised by SWISS Essentials and My Safe Spaces, awarded Dharav High School for creating safe, inclusive learning environments for students.

Ashoka University’s Ashoka Centre for a People-Centric Energy Transition and Centre for Health Analytics Research and Trends were awarded a £ 1.94 million research grant from the U.K.’s Wellcome Trust for a four-year project on the public health impacts of India’s climate mitigation efforts.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education felicitated B. Unnikrishnan, Dean and Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangaluru, and Shiran Shetty, Professor and Unit Head, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, KMC Manipal and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, recently elected as Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, for their contributions in their respective fields.

Collaborations

The Institute of Bakery and Culinary Arts has partnered with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality, the U.K., to offer students internationally recognised qualifications and industry-focused training, enhancing global career opportunities in hospitality and culinary fields.

The University of Galway, Ireland, has partnered with FLAME University to create international PG pathways for Indian students across its Colleges of Business, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science and Engineering.

The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants has signed an MoU with St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bengaluru, to strengthen professional development and career readiness for Finance and Accounting students in India.

Amity University Bengaluru and L&T Technology Services have partnered to promote industry-academia collaboration, research, and skill development, including the establishment of an E-Mobility Centre of Excellence.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has signed an MoU with IIT Roorkee to collaborate across education, research, innovation, and industry engagement.

Merck Life Science India has partnered with CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, to promote knowledge exchange, skill development, and stronger academia-industry collaboration in research and innovation.

Galgotias University has partnered with 247VC to launch an Entrepreneurship and Venture Excellence Programme to equip students with start-up skills, investor mentorship, and access to funding support. The institute also collaborated with L&T EduTech to establish an EV Centre of Excellence to provide hands-on access to electric vehicle technologies for applied engineering learning.

Turito, an AI-first education platform, has partnered with broadband service provider ACT Fibernet to offer the latter’s customers access to Turito AI Academy, a learning platform that integrates school academics with preparation for Classes 6–12, as well as competitive and international exams. All ACT Fibernet customers will be eligible for an exclusive three-month free access to the Turito AI Academy.
