Rains lashed several parts of Mumbai for the second consecutive day on Monday (June 22, 2026), bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing heat and humidity across the city. Moderate to heavy showers accompanied by thunder were reported from multiple locations during the morning hours, while overcast skies and cool winds made for a pleasant start to the day.

According to civic officials, some areas recorded intense rainfall within a short span, though no major incidents of waterlogging or disruption to public transport services were reported. The showers, however, affected visibility and slowed traffic movement at a few locations.

The southwest monsoon, which typically reaches Mumbai around June 10, has been delayed this year after its advance stalled due to unfavourable weather conditions. The latest spell of rain has renewed hopes of further monsoon progress along the west coast.

No significant waterlogging or other rain-related incidents were reported, while public transport services continued to operate normally, officials said.

Uttar Pradesh | CM Yogi Adityanath directs officials to ensure no drinking water crisis arises anywhere in State

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday (June 21, 2026) directed officials to ensure that no drinking water crisis arises anywhere in the State and called for making water conservation a mass movement in view of weather uncertainty and the possibility of an erratic monsoon.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on weather conditions, monsoon progress, drinking water supply and groundwater conservation, Mr. Adityanath said every resident of the State should be connected with efforts related to water harvesting and conservation.

As per an official statement, the CM stressed that not a single drop of water should be wasted and asked officials to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Catch the Rain” campaign more effectively through wider public participation.

The Chief Minister directed departments concerned to ensure uninterrupted water supply across the State and make advance preparations to deal with the possibility of below-normal rainfall. He said citizens should not face any inconvenience due to drinking water shortages. - PTI

Rains lash Mumbai for second day, cool breeze brings respite

“Several parts of Mumbai received moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder on Monday morning (June 22, 2026), with some areas recording intense showers in just one hour,” civic officials said.

Rains lashed parts of the city for the second consecutive day, bringing much-needed relief from the heat and humidity. Overcast skies and a cool breeze made the morning pleasant across the metropolis.

On Monday morning (June 22, 2026), showers, accompanied by thunder, lashed several parts of the city, leading to reduced visibility and affecting traffic movement at some locations, officials said.

“The island city recorded an average rainfall of 17 mm between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., the western suburbs received 10 mm of rain, and the eastern suburbs recorded no measurable precipitation during the period,” as per data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). - PTI
