Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath has asked the officials of the Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) to expedite development works in the city with special focus on providing drinking water to the people and development of parks.

Mr. Bharath held a review meeting on the development works in the city and enquired into the progress that had been made in ongoing works since the previous meeting. Making it clear that any delay in execution and completion of development works would not be tolerated, Mr. Bharath urged everyone to work collectively to transform the city into a “Smart City”.

Mr. Bharath asked the officials to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify potholes on the roads and to fill them immediately. Officials were also instructed to conduct a study on road widening in areas where it was deemed necessary for effective traffic management.

The minister directed officials to complete the pipeline works connecting Sunkesula Reservoir to the Munagalapadu Summer Storage Tank within one month. Asking officials to pay special attention to the drinking water supply, he wanted them to engage additional staff, if necessary, to ensure uninterrupted supply.

Mr Bharath suggested that six parks should be developed in the initial phase. Mr. Bharath asked officials to expedite and complete the bio-mining operations and the construction of processing plants at the Gargeyapuram dumpyard, and to procure auto-rickshaws for waste collection.

He suggested that land be allocated in the Pump House and Ganesh Nagar areas for establishing an electrical substation.

Mr. Bharath asked officials to take strict action against those who had been defaulting on payment of property tax for a long time. Special attention should be put on TIDCO housing complexes and necessary infrastructure should be provided at these complexes, he said. The drinking water supply should also be improved at these complexes, he added.

KMC Commissioner Challa Obulesu and other officials were present at the meeting.
