The Sriperumbudur Police arrested a 25-year-old man allegedly involved in a string of two-wheeler thefts across several districts in the State, and recovered 16 stolen motorcycles from his possession.
The police said a special team was constituted by the Sriperumbudur police after repeated complaints of motorcycle thefts were reported from the Sunguvarchatram area in Kancheepuram district. Following sustained surveillance and investigation, the police apprehended the suspect, Subash, 25, from Ranipet district, on Friday.
The police said the inquiry revealed that Subash had allegedly stolen a motorcycle parked in Sunguvarchatram on March 15. Subsequent investigation linked him to several similar theft cases registered in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore, and Tirupattur districts. During the operation, the police seized 16 stolen two-wheelers from the accused.
