The Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) led by the DMK swept all three Assembly constituencies in Mayiladuthurai district with the Congress, the DMK, and the MDMK registering victories even as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) secured substantial vote shares but finished third across segments.
In the Mayiladuthurai constituency, Jamal Mohamed Younoos of the Congress secured 68,011 votes to defeat PMK’s Sithamalli A. Palanisamy, who polled 57,166 votes, by a margin of 10,845 votes. TVK’s S.S. Haroon Rasheeth came third with 52,538 votes.
