A mass cleaning drive was taken up by the Archaeological Survey of India at Sri Brahadeeswarar Temple complex, popularly known as Big Temple, in Thanjavur on May 18 on the occasion of the International Museum Day.
According to sources, around 50 ASI employees were involved in the exercise of removing wild growth on the ramparts and lawns at the complex. The mass cleaning exercise was flagged off by the ASI Tiruchi Circle Superintending Archaeologist P. Aravazhii, sources added.
