Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday (May 7, 2026) said that the murder of a close aide of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in West Bengal raises serious concerns regarding the law and order situation.
She added that the “sacrifice” of not even one BJP worker will go in vain.

“The recent events in Bengal are deeply tragic and concerning. The murder of an associate of our senior leader, Suvendu Adhikari, raises grave concerns regarding law and order as well as democratic values. There should be no place for violence amidst political differences,” Ms. Gupta said in a post on X.
“We are confident that fair and stringent action will be taken against the culprits, and that the victim’s family will receive justice. The sacrifice of not even a single one of our workers will go in vain. The restoration of peace, security, and democratic values in Bengal remains our utmost priority,” she said.
Chandranath Rath, personal assistant to Mr. Adhikari, was killed late on Wednesday night (May 6, 2026), according to the West Bengal police.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the attack, and forensic experts have visited the scene of the crime in North 24 Parganas, Madhyamgram.
