The National Medical Commission (NMC) has taken note of allegations that stipends officially credited to students at MNR Medical College and Hospital in Sangareddy are being partially taken back by the management through coercive means. The Commission has directed the institution to respond and submit proof within seven days, warning of penal action in case of non-compliance.
In a letter dated April 17 issued by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), the NMC informed the Dean/Principal of the college that it had received a grievance regarding the treatment of postgraduate students. At the centre of the complaint is an alleged system in which stipends are paid on record but are not fully retained by students.
