Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao has announced that a new bridge has been proposed to be built across the backwaters of Kumbabhishekam, enabling the traditional fishing boats to venture into sea for fishing from Kumbabhishekam fish landing point on the outskirts of Kakinada city.
The fishing boats have to enter the sea passing under the nearly 30 metre-long bridge and the existing bridge is in a dilapidated state. The bridge is also sole access for vehicles transporting goods from Kakinada Deep Sea port and fish from the fish landing point.
Mr. Venkateswara Rao, who inspected the bridge on Friday (April 10), said that the existing bridge would be replaced with a new bridge. "The previous government has ignored the the bridge. The alliance of TDP Jana Sena- BJP has promised to construct a new bridge. It will be built on a war footing," he said.
Traditional fishing boats which are anchored at the fish landing point reportedly got damaged during the cyclones. The MLA assured to increase the height of the bridge to avoid any damage to the fishing boats while passing under the bridge.
