The Department of Endocrinology at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad inaugurated a dedicated Comprehensive Obesity Clinic on Thursday, May 7, with the aim of providing scientific, evidence-based and multidisciplinary care for individuals living with obesity and related metabolic disorders.
The clinic will function from Room No. 36 in the old building of NIMS between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
The clinic will follow a multidisciplinary approach involving endocrinologists, dieticians and physiotherapists to provide comprehensive and individualised care for patients. Scientific dietary modification, regular physical activity, behavioural support and structured long-term follow-up will form the core of obesity management at the clinic.
Dr. Beatrice Anne, Head of the Department of Endocrinology, said obesity treatment should be compassionate, scientific and free from stigma, adding that weight bias and discrimination often delayed healthcare-seeking behaviour and adversely affected mental well-being.
