Construction of a women-run petrol bunk at Hakimpet village in Kodangal Assembly constituency, represented by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is nearing completion, with installation of fuel storage tanks currently under way. The government is targeting inauguration of the outlet by Telangana Formation Day on June 2.
According to officials, work is in progress at 39 locations in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).
Fuel tank installation has been completed at Gandavarigudem in Nalgonda district and Bhoopathipur in Peddapalli district, where further construction is under way. Land levelling and preliminary construction have also begun in Adilabad, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Khammam, Komaram Bheem Asifabad and Hanumakonda districts.
Officials said all required NOCs had been secured in Karimnagar district. Lease agreements and final clearances are in the last stage in Kamareddy, Suryapet, Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts, while permissions from National Highways, Fire, Police, Municipal and Revenue departments are pending at some locations.
The government has already operationalised women-run petrol bunks in Narayanpet and Sangareddy districts under the management of district women federations. These outlets are said to provide employment to more than 10 women each and generate a monthly income of around ₹7 lakh. The government is planning to extend the model to more districts and eventually to the constituency level. After reviewing the progress on Monday, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has directed officials, including SERP CEO Divya Devarajan, to complete the works expeditiously.
