The women’s forum of Palakkad District Public Library will conduct a series of literary and cultural competitions for girls and women as part of the library’s 13th anniversary celebrations. The competitions will be conducted in three categories: school girls up to higher secondary level, young women up to 35 years of age, and women above 35 years.

The stage events will include speech, poetry recitation, film songs rendering (karaoke), folk songs, Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, folk dance and mono act performances. Off-stage competitions will feature short story writing, poetry writing, essay writing, drawing, painting and photography.

Interested participants in stage events should register their names at Palakkad District Public Library by July 20. Those participating in off-stage events must submit their entries to the library so that they reach the office by July 20. Organisers said the competitions were intended to encourage creativity, artistic expression and literary engagement among women and students while celebrating the library’s anniversary.
