Two drivers were killed on the spot when a goods transport vehicle rammed a tipper parked on the roadside on Pune-Bengaluru National Highway at Tegur near Dharwad on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as tipper driver Shanmukh Jogi, a resident of Old Tegur, and transport vehicle driver Sagar Saroj from Uttar Pradesh.
As one of the tyres of the tipper burst, Shanmukh Jogi parked the vehicle by the roadside and was changing the tyre, when the goods transport vehicle rammed the stationary tipper from behind.
Shanmukh Jogi who was changing the tyre was killed on the spot. And, goods vehicle driver Sagar Saroj was crushed to death.
The police had a difficult time in removing the body from the mangled remains of the vehicle. Garag Police have registered a case.
