A 13-year-old boy died after falling from the terrace of his house while flying a kite at Sevilimedu near Kancheepuram.

The deceased, identified as S. Karthi, was a resident of West Mada Street in Sevilimedu and a Class 7 student of the Government High School in the locality.

According to the police, the incident took place on May 8 during the summer holidays. Karthi was reportedly flying a kite alone on the terrace of his house when he accidentally lost balance and fell from the building. He sustained severe head injuries in the fall.

Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the spot, informed his parents and arranged for an ambulance. The boy was first admitted to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital and later referred to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital for advanced treatment. However, despite treatment, Karthi succumbed to his injuries, police said.
