HYDERABAD
Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU), Mulugu, has announced a major expansion of its academic and institutional collaborations with premier national institutions to introduce future-oriented programmes and strengthen opportunities for tribal and rural students.
As part of its latest initiatives, the university has entered into an academic collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology - Hyderabad (IIT-H) to launch several new programmes from the current academic year.
The newly-introduced programmes include B.Tech in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, B.Sc. (Honours) in Computer Science and Data Analytics, and B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics and Computing.
SSCTU Vice-Chancellor Y.L. Srinivas said the programmes reflect the varsity’s commitment to bringing next-generation education to the tribal heartland of Telangana. Focus areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Computational Sciences are expected to enhance students’ academic, research and employment prospects in emerging sectors.
The university is also establishing an academic association with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad, to offer an M.A. in Developmental Studies. The programme is aimed at preparing socially conscious scholars and professionals capable of contributing to tribal development, rural transformation, social justice and inclusive growth.
Apart from new courses, the university continues to offer B.A. (Honours) programmes in English and Economics.
The varsity is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with AIIMS Bibinagar to undertake skill development and community-oriented programmes for tribal communities, particularly the Koya and Guttikoya communities. Skill-based programmes, including Diploma in Sanitary Inspection, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), and Community Health Worker programmes will be offered.
Prof. Srinivas said these initiatives are aimed at promoting healthcare awareness, vocational training, employability enhancement and community health outreach among tribal populations through structured academic and field-based learning.
The university stated that the collaborations demonstrate its proactive approach towards creating a vibrant academic ecosystem that combines technological advancement, educational excellence and social responsibility.
