1. Stalin burns copy of Delimitation Bill

Leading DMK’s Statewide protest against the Delimitation Bill in Namakkal, the party president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who was clad in black, burnt a copy of the Bill. The DMK president and Chief Minister called it a ‘conspiracy and a black law’. He urged people to hoist black flags.

Meanwhile, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, speaking at a roadshow in Coimbatore city, said the Delimitation Bill will not affect any State including Tamil Nadu.

2. Vijay unveils TVK manifesto

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay released his party’s manifesto for the upcoming Assembly election at Chennai.

He said that if his party is voted to power, it would establish 100 Kamarajar Special Residential Schools with state-of-the-art facilities, provide ₹10,000 aid for agricultural labourers, offer health insurance cover of ₹25 lakh per family, and give a monthly pension of ₹3,000 to the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities.

He also promised 200 units of free electricity, a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036, and an increase in the salary of anganwadi workers to ₹18,000, among others.

3. ‘Jana Nayagan’ movie leak case: Key accused arrested

Three men including the key accused were arrested by the Cyber Crime Wing of Tamil Nadu Police yesterday in connection with the leak of Jana Nayagan, the unreleased movie starring Vijay.

Police said the main accused was working as a freelance assistant editor for another movie. However, he unauthorisedly gained access to the footages of Jana Nayagan movie at the editing studio and stole them.

4. HC dismisses Tamannaah’s plea for ₹1-crore damages from Power Soaps

The Madras High Court dismissed a case filed by film actor Tamannaah Santhosh Bhatia seeking damages of ₹1 crore from Puducherry-based Power Soaps Limited for having allegedly continued to use her photographs on soap wrappers and promotional materials even after the expiry of the agreement for being its brand ambassador.
