Yoga organizations in Mysuru are gearing up to hold sessions across 120 locations in Mysuru on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21.
“We will have 1.2 lakh people perform yoga under the guidance of 1,200 yoga trainers at 120 locations across Mysuru”, said Mysuru Yoga Federation’s Srihari Dwarkanath while addressing the gathering at the Mahasankalp Diwas organized at Mysuru Palace on Sunday as a prelude to the International Yoga Day.
With a large number of yoga schools participating in the initiative, Mr Srihari expressed confidence of reaching the target. He also recalled the record gatherings Mysuru had attracted during the earlier yoga day celebrations held at Race Course in Mysuru.
As the coming Yoga Day was the 12th Yoga day, the Mysuru Yoga Federation had planned to mark the occasion by holding yoga sessions at 120 venues, he said.
Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who also participated in the Mahasankalp Diwas recalled Mysuru’s connection with yoga culture and said Mysuru Palace was also part of the tradition since the days of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.
Mr. Yaduveer noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to promote the practice have helped it emerge as a globally recognized “soft power.”
