Senior Congress leader T. N. Prathapan has lodged a formal complaint with the Thrissur Rural Superintendent of Police against a social media campaign that allegedly spread false and defamatory information about him.
The complaint follows the circulation of a post carrying the headline “T.N. Prathapan set to quit the party,” accompanied by his photograph. According to Prathapan, the content is entirely fabricated and aimed at misleading the public.
He pointed out that the post first appeared on a Facebook page named “Red Army,” which is seen as pro-Left, through a profile under the name “Abhilash Appu Abhilash.” The post was subsequently shared widely across social media platforms.
In his complaint, Mr. Prathapan alleged that the fake content was deliberately created to settle personal scores, politically target him, damage his public reputation, and create confusion and dissent among party workers.
He has submitted screenshots of the post as evidence and urged the police to register a case, conduct a thorough investigation, and take strict legal action against those responsible for the defamatory campaign.
