The CPI, CPI-M, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and CPI (ML) Liberation have called for a joint demonstration on May 7 in front of central government offices at district headquarters across Tamil Nadu.
In a joint statement, party leaders said the protest is against the steep increase in the price of commercial LPG cylinders, which they said has risen from ₹1,739 to ₹3,257. They added that even the price hike of smaller 5 kg cylinders has adversely affected roadside eateries and low-income households.
