The Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (AGICL) has invited global bids to appoint a consultant for preparing a comprehensive master plan, detailed project report (DPR) and financial plan for the proposed Amaravati Riverfront Development Project along the Krishna river, with implementation support for a pilot project targeted for completion before Krishna Pushkaralu-2028.

According to the Request for Proposal (RFP), the project forms part of the Andhra Pradesh government’s vision to develop Amaravati into a world-class, sustainable and future-ready capital city. The riverfront development is expected to create an integrated urban waterfront that combines tourism, recreation, environmental conservation, public amenities and modern infrastructure, and reflects the cultural identity of the State.

The proposed project covers nearly 27 kilometres of the Krishna river, extending from Undavalli in the east to Vykuntapuram in the west, including seven river islands spread over about 20 square kilometres. As the first phase, a priority pilot project has been identified at Uddandirayunipalem, covering a three-kilometre riverfront stretch, a two-square-kilometre island and a one-kilometre marina corridor from the Mantena Satyanarayana Raju Ashram. The pilot project is located in front of the Amaravati Eye, a giant observation wheel proposed at a height of 139 metres on the banks of the Krishna river in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

The selected consultant will prepare the master plan, engineering designs, landscape concepts, environmental management strategies and implementation roadmap. The assignment also includes preparing tourism circuits, promenades, ghats, parks, cycling and walking tracks, waterfront recreational facilities, public plazas and mobility infrastructure. Emphasis has been laid on climate-resilient landscaping, flood-resilient planning, ecological restoration and the use of native plant species.

The consultant will also assist AGICL in obtaining statutory approvals, preparing tender documents, supporting bid management and supervising implementation of the pilot project. The pilot is intended to demonstrate the planning and execution model for the larger riverfront development, and to ensure essential public infrastructure is ready ahead of Krishna Pushkaralu-2028, the RFP said.
