The Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), led by the DMK, retained two of the three Assembly constituencies in Nagapattinam district while the AIADMK held on to Vedaranyam as counting of votes on Monday reflected a shifting electoral dynamic with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerging as a strong force.
The results underlined a triangular contest across the district, with TVK pushing the AIADMK to third place in Nagapattinam and the PMK to third in Kilvelur (SC).
