Amid concerns over voter verification and enumeration, Nampally legislator Mohammed Majid Hussain on Tuesday stated that the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has launched two WhatsApp numbers to assist in the process of Special Intensive Revision elector mapping, and urged residents to ensure that their details are properly mapped.

Mr. Hussain issued a statement in which he said that many voters who had contacted him underscored that they were unable to get in touch with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He said that officials were either unknown to residents or not responding to phone calls.

On order to assist voters, he said AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi had launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline for voters in the Nampally constituency. Residents can send a message such as ‘Hi’, ‘Salaam’ or ‘Namaste’ to the helpline number, following which an automated response will ask for their details. Once the information is submitted a call centre executive would contact voters so as to guide them through the mapping process, he said.

Mr. Hussain aslo said the party would make every effort to ensure that voters complete the exercise and that comprehensive mapping of voters would be carried out. Helpline numbers would be prominently displayed across the constituency and QR codes would also be installed at various locations to facilitate access to the service.

He appealed to residents not to worry about the process, assuring them that the party would extend assistance until the voter mapping exercise was completed.

Describing the initiative as a means to counter ‘communal forces’, Mr. Hussain said the AIMIM would stand with voters throughout the exercise, and stated that the prevailing situation in the country made it necessary for all voters to complete the process.
