District Collector Ranjith Singh has announced that May 15 (Friday) would be a local holiday in the district in view of the Car festival of the famous Gowmariamman Temple in Veerapandi. According to a press release, May 30 would be a working day in the district. The temple festival, which would commence from May 12 to 19, would celebrate Car festival on May 15. Except the district treasury office, which would function with limited staff, all other departments shall remain closed on May 15, the release said.
