Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bengaluru, and District Legal Services Authority, Yadgir, are jointly holding a National Lok Adalat on July 11 to settle compoundable cases pending before various courts across the district, Principal District and Sessions Judge H.J. Marulasiddaradhya has said.

Addressing a press conference on the District Court premises in Yadgir on Tuesday, Mr. Marulasiddaradhya said that 19,579 cases are pending before various courts. Of them, 1,113 have so far been identified for settlement before the National Lok Adalat on the scheduled date. The numbers may go up when the Lok Adalat is organised.

“Advocates representing parties in the identified cases have been asked to take part in the Lok Adalat to get their cases settled amicably,” he added.

He further said that apart from the National Lok Adalat, a special Lok Adalat drive 2.0 will be held on July 18 to settle only cheque bounce cases and before the mediation centre on July 15 to settle cases where they have been referred.

“The Supreme Court has directed us to take up 18 cases from the district and are pending before it for settlement. Such cases will be taken up on July 21, 22 and 23 during special sittings,” Mr. Marulasiddaradhya said and added that the parties before the Supreme Court in those cases have already been informed about the scheduled date.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar, who was present during the press conference, said that the Police Department has given an option to those against whom cases have been registered through e-challan for violation of traffic rules to pay fine imposed during a special drive scheduled between June 21 and July 10 at places specifically identified for the purpose.

Mr. Shankar highlighted that the department has given a 50% discount offer against the actual fine amount if rule violators pay it during the period stipulated.

The Superintendent of Police said that 12,119 e-challans have been registered between October 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026 for violation of traffic rules and a fine of ₹67,91,900, in all, has been imposed. Of this amount, ₹6,40,200 fine has been collected and ₹61,51,700 is pending. Therefore, a drive to collect the remaining fine by giving a 50% discount is set to be launched, he added.

The places where fine is going to be collected are as follows: Yadgir Traffic Police Station, to on-duty traffic assistant sub-inspectors who are carrying PDA machine, at Subhas Circle, Old Bus Stand, New Bus Stand, Gunj Circle and Gandhi Circle and also online through: https://103.195.218.159/login, Mr. Shankar said.

And, the judge said that a fine of ₹18,49,500, imposed by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Yadgir for violation of Motor Vehicle Act, is pending for recovery. Therefore, RTO officials have also announced a 50% discount on such fine to be paid between June 21 and July 10, 2026.
