The Lakshadweep administration has eased the process of obtaining entry permits for tourists visiting the islands.
A circular issued by the Lakshadweep administration on Wednesday (April 29, 2026) said that tourists do not require any local sponsorship to apply for permits. The requirement of a sponsor’s undertaking for tourists has been removed in the interest of simplifying procedures and facilitating ease of travel, it said.
The administration has also done away with the requirement of obtaining prior police clearance certification (PCC) from the applicant’s place of residence. However, police clearance will be given by the Lakshadweep Police department to ensure security in the islands.
