The Ballari District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BDCCI), in association with the district administration and various government departments and farmers’ organisations, will organise an agriculture fair on “Quality Seeds and Scientific Sowing” on the APMC premises in Ballari on May 26.

Addressing presspersons in Ballari on Saturday, BDCCI president Avvaru Manjunath and honorary secretary K.C. Suresh Babu said that the fair was being organised with the cooperation of the zilla panchayat, departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Irrigation and Animal Husbandry, Ballari District Cotton Association, Karnataka State Agro Inputs Dealers’ Association’s Ballari unit, Ballari APMC Traders’ Association, Ballari Dalali Traders’ Association, Kannada Nadu Raitha Sangha and various farmers’ groups.

“The programme would begin at 9 a.m. with a farmers’ rally accompanied by cultural troupes. Minister for Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy will inaugurate the fair. District in-charge Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan and Vice-Chancellor of Raichur University of Agricultural Sciences M. Hanumanthappa will participate as chief guests. Agricultural scientists A.G. Srinivas, Ravishankar G., Palayya and M. Bheemanna will deliver lectures as resource persons during the fair,” Mr. Manjunath said, adding that nearly 10,000 farmers from different parts of the district were expected to attend the fair.

A pamphlet on the agriculture fair was also released during the press conference.
