Condemning Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for allegedly delaying invitation to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay, to form the government, members of Erode District Congress Committee staged a demonstration at Karungalpalayam on Friday (May 8).
The protest was led by Erode Urban District Congress Committee president P. Rajesh Rajappa. South District president K.P. Muthukumar and North District president P. Udayakumaran participated.
The protesters criticised the Governor’s actions and urged him to “respect the people’s mandate” and facilitate the formation of the government by the TVK. Raising slogans, they alleged that the Governor was acting at the behest of the BJP and denying Mr. Vijay an opportunity to form the government and serve the people.
They termed the Governor’s actions “undemocratic” and urged him to function in accordance with the Constitution.
