The first monsoon rain in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) began right ahead of the evening rush hours. This led to waterlogging resulting in several parts of the city and its surrounding areas. People were left fuming as the situation disrupted flow of traffic.

Personnel from the Police department, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Municipal Corporations were involved in the rain relief measures.

Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday evening directed Collectors, senior officials in Municipal Corporation, Police department to assess the extent of damage and the measures being taken on ground.

Mr. Prabhakar also reviewed incidents involving uprooted trees and snapped power lines caused by strong winds accompanying the rain.
