The National Coalition for Women’s Reservation, a coalition of women’s organisations and leaders, has demanded that the Union government pass the women’s reservation Bill in the Monsoon Session of Parliament without any conditions. Attending a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday (April 19, 2026), leaders of the platform said they unequivocally condemned the attempts to weaponise gender justice for political gain and the imposition of conditionalities that effectively stall the implementation of the 33% reservation.
Senior Communist Party of India leader Annie Raja said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the women of the country for not showing any sincerity in passing the legislation. She said by linking the women’s reservation with delimitation and Census, the Union government effectively blocked the legislation.
